Metro Police officer pulls driver from burning limousine after crash

A Metro Police officer was involved in a fiery crash this morning on Flamingo Road near Interstate 15 and pulled the other driver out of a limousine before it was engulfed in flames, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 4 a.m. on the highway overpass, Metro spokesman Officer Jay Rivera said.

The officer made an U-turn on Flamingo and collided with the limousine, Rivera said. Both vehicles were thrown into the opposing traffic lanes and crashed into a wall, he said.

Before the limousine went up in flames, the officer pulled the driver out, Rivera said. The limo driver was taken to University Medical Center with a broken arm and other injuries, he said.

There were no passengers in the limousine, Rivera said.
