Members of the Faith Lutheran High football team pose for a photo at the Las Vegas Sun’s high school football media day Tuesday July 31, 2018 at the Red Rock Resort and Casino. They include, from left, Keagan Touchstone, Taimani McKenzie, Ma’a Gaoteote, Hunter Kaupiko, Nate Meredith, David “DJ” Heckard and Sagan Gronauer.

The Faith Lutheran High defense recovered five fumbles tonight in a 41-6 victory against host Shadow Ridge, including Kendall Lightfoot’s 19-yard fumble return for a score.

Other fumbles were recovered by Ma’a Gaoteote, Hunter Kaupiko, Sebastian Burke and Sam Stevens, according to Max Preps.

Shadow Ridge and its triple-option attack were able to hold onto the ball for significant portions of the first half. But the Faith Lutheran defense kept the opposition from scoring.

"You bend but don't break. Find a way to get off the field," Faith Lutheran coach Vernon Fox said. "Eventually if everyone does there job, it converts to a turnover on downs or a big play where we can get a turnover."

Sagan Gronauer was brilliant at quarterback for the Crusaders, opening the scoring with a 79-yard touchdown run and accounting for four total touchdowns. He also had scoring passes to Kayden Rogers and Greg Oliver.

Julian Rohan added a 1-yard touchdown run for the Crusaders, who improve to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the Northwest League.
