LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Why didn’t Oct. 1 inspire action?

“Make Las Vegas Weak Again” will be the slogan for us when we have another mass shooting. Sure, “Make Las Vegas Strong Again” would sell T-shirts, but we could not live up to that motto with gun violence forever present.

After the high school shooting in Parkland, Fla., that took 17 lives, students said, “No prayers, let’s have action.” That’s what they sought and are seeking.

Our government is supposed to be of the people, for the people and by the people. But the “for the people” has been left out by those elected to represent us. No action has been taken on gun violence.

Those 58 crosses should be replaced by 58 AR-15 rifles, with the barrels secured in cement. Hang the names of the victims massacred Oct. 1. Remind everyone what happened that night.

You may say, “It didn’t happen to me,” but anyone could become a victim. Whatever your party affiliation, vote for the movement to take action on gun control that will take those AR-15s out of the ground.
