While his cousin was “fake sleeping” on the floor of a southeast valley bedroom, the suspect bludgeoned him to death with a copper pipe, according to a Metro Police arrest report.
At least that’s what Keifer Cannon, 29, told detectives. The report didn’t indicate a possible motive for the killing.
David Brotherson died from multiple head injuries, according to police.
First responders were dispatched about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of Brighthill Avenue, near Sandhill Road and Harmon Avenue, and encountered the bloody scene, police said.
Initially, Cannon, who was at the house with several other family members, told police that he’d last seen Brotherson the night before and didn’t know what happened to him, but later admitted to killing him, according to the report.
After the slaying, Cannon put the bloody pipe in a bedroom closet, police said.
Sometime before 911 was called, Cannon went up to his mother and said he had hurt Brotherson, police said.
Cannon is being held without bond at the Clark County Detention Center. He will next appear in court on Dec. 11.
