The 4-year-old Las Vegas boy who was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck Monday night in a central valley crosswalk has been identified as Abdulwahab Noori by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The boy’s mother, age 25, was critically injured while his two younger sisters also were hurt, according to Metro Police.

Police identified the 74-year-old motorist of the 1995 Dodge Ram which they said plowed the four victims about 6:30 p.m. on Katie Avenue, just east of Maryland Parkway.

The man, who police said failed to slow down at the crosswalk, was not impaired, though it wasn’t clear if he was cited.

The two young girls, ages 2 and 3, were expected to recover and were in “good spirits,” Metro Capt. Nick Farese said Monday night.

Officers and medics were dispatched to the crosswalk where they encountered the victims, who were then rushed to nearby Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. Abdulwahab died there while his mother remained in critical condition.

Having the right of way, Farese said, the pedestrians were doing what they were supposed to, adding that the driver — who was heading east — likely didn’t see them, nor did they see the truck.

The crosswalk, which is marked by yellow signs, is tucked between a shopping center and a mall. Nearby signs indicate that vehicles shouldn’t travel above 25 mph. Police didn’t say how fast the truck was going.

Several pedestrians crossed the death scene while vehicles stopped for them this afternoon. Hints that a tragedy had occurred hours earlier were displayed in the form of police-neon-sprayed markers, such as “shoe” and “stroller.”
