Las Vegas woman kills ex-boyfriend in ‘self-defense’

A man who threatened his ex-girlfriend with her life early this morning in a northeast valley bar was killed when the woman shot him, according to Metro Police.

The woman had an active restraining order against him, homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Officers were dispatched about 1 a.m. to the bar in the 3400 block of North Nellis Boulevard, north of Cheyenne Avenue, Spencer said.

The woman was at the bar when the man showed up and started yelling at her, telling her he was going to kill her, Spencer said.

The man made a motion as if he was pulling out a weapon, the and woman pulled out hers and opened fire, fatally wounding him, Spencer said. It wasn’t clear if the man was armed.

Detectives interviewed and released the woman, Spencer said. The case will be forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office to consider charges, but as of now, the shooting appears to be self-defense, he added.

This was the second of three shootings investigated by Metro homicide detectives in a nine-hour period. One left a person dead and another victim was in “extremely” critical condition, Spencer said.
