Man extremely critical after being shot in southwest valley

A man is in “extremely” critical condition after being shot during an altercation in a south valley neighborhood, according to Metro Police.

The shooting occurred about 8 a.m. in the 6000 block of Conroe Court, near Russell Road and Jones Boulevard, Lt. Ray Spencer said.

The victim’s girlfriend told him about a previous altercation she had with a group of women on the Strip, Spencer said. That prompted them to drive to Conroe Court, where the gunman confronted the victim.

Sometime during the altercation, the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot the victim, Spencer said.

The suspect fled, while the victim was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Spencer said. Homicide detectives are investigating.

This was the third shooting Metro homicide detectives were dispatched to in a nine-hour period. Two previous shootings left two dead.
