A man who was shot in the head during a Saturday morning altercation in a southwest valley neighborhood has died, and the alleged gunman was arrested, according to Metro Police.

The shooting, which occurred at about 8 a.m. in the 6000 block of Conroe Court, near Russell Road and Jones Boulevard, may have been prostitution-related, police said. Those involved knew each other.

Lt. Ray Spencer on Saturday said the victim and his girlfriend had gone to the residence after an argument between the woman and a group of women at a Strip casino.

Police today said that the woman had her cellphone stolen, and she and the victim had tracked it down to the Conroe Court location.

When they arrived, the victim confronted Noel Shakespeare, 27, police said. A fistfight ensued and moved from the driveway to the street where Shakespeare allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Medics found the victim lying on the road and rushed him to University Medical Center where he died Monday, police said.

Shakespeare, who fled in a compact SUV, turned himself in to Metro on Saturday, police said. He is being held without bond at the Clark County Detention Center, jail logs show.

Neither the suspect nor victim were involved in the initial confrontation, Spencer said.

This was the third fatal shooting investigated by Metro homicide detectives within a nine-hour span.
