Moapa Valley wasted no time in putting away host Eldorado Friday night.

The Pirates put up three touchdowns in both the first and second quarters to bury the Sundevils en route to a 48-12 victory.

“Pretty workmanlike for us tonight,” Moapa Valley coach Brent Lewis said. “We just came out and got the job done.”

The Pirates allowed senior running back Braeden St. John to pace them. St. John had 99 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries.

Senior quarterback Luke Bennett put up a couple touchdowns of his own, going 8-for-10 on passing attempts with 130 yards. Moapa Valley is back home next week to take on undefeated Cheyenne in a big-time, early-season showdown between 3A championship contenders.

“It gives us something to be excited about,” Lewis said of the impending matchup.
