The Palo Verde High football team didn’t complete a pass tonight against visiting Las Vegas. The Panthers didn’t need to.

They rushed for about 500 yards and closed the game with 21 unanswered points in a 35-14 victory.

Charron Thomas led the way with three touchdowns and well over 100 yards on 20 carries, helping Palo Verde wear down Las Vegas and improve to 2-1 overall.

“We took control in the second half,” Palo Verde coach Joe Aznarez said.

Fullback Dacen Phister added 100 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Panthers, who were much improved after being held to six points last week against Foothill.

“We are better than that,” Aznarez said. “The kids really took that to heart and got after it this week.”
