The Faith Lutheran football team’s trip to California didn’t end how the Crusaders would have liked Friday night, losing 50-10 to powerhouse JSerra Catholic.

Faith Lutheran has scheduled as aggressively as any high school football team in the Las Vegas Valley, and are now 1-3 on the season with losses to teams from Colorado, Arizona and California.

“It’s obviously not the result we’re looking for, but a part of the way we approach it is every week there’s something we can learn,” head coach Vernon Fox said.

JSerra’s three-star quarterback Caden Bell — who has offers from Brown, Yale and Columbia — threw for four touchdowns in the lopsided victory.

The Crusaders should come out of this early-season gauntlet a better team but will have to prove it against conference opponents starting next Friday against Cimarron-Memorial.

“We have to be better in every facet,” Fox said. “We’ve done some things well but it hasn’t been consistent. We have to start stacking (the good plays) on top of each other and be more consistent overall.”
