The Valley High football team, despite losing its initial three games of the season, will open league play next week with much confidence.

The Vikings have rebounded to win their last two games, including a 25-13 victory tonight against Sunrise Mountain.

“When you talk about starting 0-3 with a young team that has had little or no success, (winning the last two weeks) is big,” Valley coach Quincy Burts said. “The kids believed in the staff. Our coaches are doing a good job of putting the kids in a good position to succeed.”

Bryce Jones had three touchdown runs to lead the Vikings. Seth Jarrett had an interception return for score.

Valley opens 3A Sunset League play next week at Cheyenne, who many believe is the league’s best team.

“We are in a good spot with our confidence,” Burts said. “We will have to step up to our opponent and be ready.”
