Teen arrested on arson charges in brush fire north of Reno

Police have arrested a 13-year-old suspect on arson charges stemming from a small brush fire that broke out north of Reno.

The fire that started about 7:40 a.m. Thursday burned about one-quarter acre near Martin Luther King Park off of Lemmon Drive just west of U.S. Highway 395. No one was hurt and no structures were damaged.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District spokesman Adam Mayberry said Friday the Washoe County School Police arrested the teenager on two arson counts.

In addition to that fire, the youth was booked on suspicion of starting another blaze reported earlier about a block away.
