Good luck finding a more efficient offensive performance than what Moapa Valley managed Friday night against Rancho.

The Pirates ran 32 offensive plays, and scored 55 points in a shutout victory at home over the Rams.

“It was big play after big play,” Moapa Valley coach Brent Lewis said. “We were able to kind of spread it around.”

Moapa Valley mainly focused on its passing game, with starting quarterback Luke Bennett tossing three scores and completing 10 of 12 passes for 191 yards. Kashten Frei eventually relieved Bennett and threw for another touchdown, completing all three of his passing attempts for 45 total yards.

Among the receivers to catch touchdown passes were Derek Reese, Chase Hoy and Josh Cox.

The win was the Pirates’ fifth straight since an opening-night loss at Green Valley, while the defeat was Rancho’s fourth consecutive setback.
