Overnight roadwork on I-15 to repair damage from wrong-way crash

Emergency overnight repairs will restrict northbound traffic on Interstate 15 between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, all but two lanes of the freeway will be shut down from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., transportation officials said.

The restrictions are a result of a fatal wrong-way crash reported Tuesday morning near the Charleston off-ramp that "spilt diesel fuel and gouged the roadway surface, leaving behind several large gaps," NDOT said.

Crews will replace about 500 lineal feet of damaged asphalt across the seven freeway lanes, NDOT said.

A more permanent fix will come during the warmer spring season, NDOT said. Motorists should exercise caution in construction zones.
