A dispute at a parking lot in a southwest valley apartment complex led to a shooting that killed a motorist and wounded another, according to Metro Police.
The gunman remained on the run Wednesday night, said Lt. Ray Spencer in a briefing broadcast online.
Officers responded about 5:45 p.m. to 6300 Riley St., near Sunset Road and Durango Drive, Lt. Jason Johansson said.
Spencer said there were conflicting accounts as to what occurred.
Preliminarily, detectives learned that a pair of co-workers arriving in separate vehicles at the complex where at least one of them lived encountered a motorist either blocking or backing out of a parking space, Spencer said.
“Some type of argument or disturbance” broke out and the man shot the co-workers, fatally wounding one and hitting the other in the arm, before he fled the scene, Spencer said.
Both men were hospitalized — one died at University Medical Center and the other was in stable condition, Spencer said.
Detectives were interviewing more than a dozen witnesses to try to piece the scene together, Spencer said.
Further details were not immediately available.
