The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, February 12, 2019

A large winter storm will make travel difficult to nearly

impossible in the Midwest and Northeast tomorrow. Heavy,

windswept snow will pummel the Upper Midwest, upstate New

York and western New England, as an ice storm unfolds over

the central and northern Appalachians. Enough ice can

accumulate to weigh down trees and power lines, leading to

sporadic power outages. Snow can change to ice and then rain

across the upper mid-Atlantic coast. Heavy rain and

thunderstorms are forecast to rumble along the warmer side

of the storm from the upper Ohio Valley to the Deep South.

Localized flooding can occur, mainly across the northern

part of this swath. A dry day is forecast across the High

Plains and Southwest. More snow will fall in the interior

Northwest with a rain and snow mix along the coast.
