A tour bus hit and killed a pedestrian this morning near the Strip, and its driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to Metro Police.

Gregory Patterson, 66, was believed to be under the influence of “medical substances,” police said in a news release.

Patterson was being held without bond at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of DUI, jail logs show.

The incident was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on Krueger Drive, a private road at The Venetian, Officer Jay Rivera said.

A woman, 59, was on a marked crosswalk when she was struck and subsequently run over by the 2014 Van Hool bus, police said.

The Las Vegas resident died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

This was the 13th traffic fatality investigated by Metro this year.
