As evidenced by the freezing temperatures of the last few days, real winter has arrived in Las Vegas — so it’s time for some real hockey. It’s a puck-tastic takeover at T-Mobile Arena this weekend when four college teams compete Friday and Saturday before the Vegas Golden Knights host the New Jersey Devils on Sunday at 1 p.m. If that’s too much ice time for you, there’s some sizzling-hot concerts and shows worth checking out in the coming days.

THE ENGLISH BEAT Early 1980s hits “Mirror in the Bathroom” and “Save It For Later” anchor the ska-pop sound of the English Beat, a group whose members went on to perform with General Public, Fine Young Cannibals and The Specials. Reformed in 2003, the Beat is back and ready to take the stage at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas Friday night. January 4, info at brooklynbowl.com.

CELINE DION Talk about passing the torch: Celine Dion’s joyous attendance at Lady Gaga’s second “Enigma” show at Park MGM went viral over New Year’s Eve weekend, including an iconic prom-style posed pic of the two singers. Gaga may be the resident of right now but Celine is the foundation and she’s back at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace this weekend and through January 20. January 4-5, info at thecolosseum.com.

ICE VEGAS INVITATIONAL The second annual college hockey tournament at T-Mobile Arena features two days of action on the ice with teams from the University of Connecticut, Air Force, Western Michigan and St. Lawrence. January 4-5, info at t-mobilearena.com.

THE DAN BAND The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay wraps up its annual Holiday Hangover musical programming with a Saturday night concert from the comedy band you’ve seen in “Old School,” “The Hangover” and other goofy movies. Expect hilarious covers and more from the Dan Band. January 5, info at houseofblues.com.

CRISS ANGEL: MINDFREAK The star magician’s new show at Planet Hollywood is garnering quite a bit of buzz thanks to some high-tech additions, including HYPERVSN’s 3D holographic effects used in Angel’s illusions and as part of a massive installation in the theater lobby. You have two more weeks to check out the opening preview “Mindfreak” shows before he kicks into high gear. January 4-6, info at caesars.com.
