Pedestrian hit by car, killed in downtown Las Vegas

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Wednesday night while crossing a street in downtown Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 11:10 p.m. at the intersection of Bonanza Road and D Street. The pedestrian, a 46-year-old Las Vegas man, was crossing Bonanza in a marked crosswalk, but vehicles on Bonanza had the green light, police said.

The car, which was headed west, hit the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver, a 46-year-old Las Vegas man, was not impaired, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said. The death marked the third traffic-related fatality of the new year in Metro's jurisdiction.
