Police find body in house after officer-involved shooting

Investigators probing a fatal officer-involved shooting Monday night in North Las Vegas found a body inside the house where the call originated, authorities said today.

Officers responded about 10 p.m. to investigate an alleged sexual assault at a house in the 2100 block of Glider Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard and 5th Street, North Las Vegas Police said.

When they arrived, they encountered a 37-year-old man who took off on foot and jumped in a white car in front of the house, police said. He took off and crashed into several vehicles, including a police cruiser, in his attempt to flee, police said.

That’s when police shot him “to stop the immediate threat to themselves and to the public,” according to a news release.

Police said the body, the alleged sexual assault and the officer-involved shooting were being investigated separately.

A public briefing was scheduled for Thursday morning.
