House fire guts bedroom, does $60,000 in damage

Fire did an estimated $60,000 in damage to a house just west of Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

Nobody was injured, but some pet birds died, officials said.

The blaze was reported about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of Plaza Del Paz in the Spanish Oaks development, officials said. Flames and smoke were coming from a window of the single-story house, officials said.

Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded and had the blaze under control within about six minutes, officials said. The fire gutted a bedroom and caused smoke damage throughout the rest of the house, officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Three adults and one child were displaced, and the American Red Cross was assisting, officials said.
