Helen Kalla joins governor’s staff as communications director

Helen Kalla has been named Gov. Steve Sisolak's communications director starting today, the administration announced.

“I am excited to bring Helen Kalla on to the team,” Sisolak said in a news release. “With her broad experience and knowledge of Nevada, Helen will be an incredible addition to our administration and I’m proud to bring her on board.”

Kalla has worked in politics and government her entire career, most recently as communications director for Nevada Democrats during the 2018 election cycle.

Prior to her time in Nevada, Kalla worked in Washington, D.C., helping establish a communications shop for a nonpartisan citizen engagement nonprofit. She has also served in other communications roles, including serving in the offices of U.S. Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware and U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel of Florida.

Christina Amestoy, who has served as interim communications director since Jan. 7th and was communications director on the Sisolak campaign, will depart Jan. 31.
