Updated Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 | 1:31 p.m.

Metro Police are investigating after a homeless man was found stabbed to death inside his tent.

Authorities say a friend of the victim who had been letting him stay in her backyard for the past two months found him Sunday night.

The incident was reported about 4:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Montebello Avenue, near Nellis Boulevard and Bonanza Road, after the friend, who was away for the weekend, arrived home, police said.

She says her dogs went into the yard and acted suspicious around his tent.

She found him when she looked inside and immediately called 911.

Paramedics pronounced the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, dead at the scene. His name will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Investigators say he had multiple stab wounds. They are searching for potential witnesses or surveillance video to identify a possible suspect. No motive has been determined, police said.
