Reno man accused of crashing stolen car into school bus

RENO — Reno police have arrested a 27-year-old man accused of stealing a car and crashing into a school bus.

Police say Ryan Nott of Reno has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run, and eluding officers.

Investigators say Nott sped away when officers tried to stop him in the vehicle at about 9 a.m. Friday in northwest Reno near Mae Anne Avenue and McCarran Boulevard.

They terminated the chase for safety reasons but a few minutes later the vehicle collided with a Washoe County school bus. The bus driver and three children on board escaped injury.

Police say Nott ran from the scene but was apprehended about a quarter-mile (400 meters) away.

The accident remains under investigation.

It's not clear if Nott has a lawyer or will be appointed one at a pending court appearance.
