Police: Man, girlfriend shot in apparent murder-suicide in Las Vegas

A man apparently killed his girlfriend and then fatally shot himself in a vehicle Sunday night as neighbors were having a barbecue nearby, according to Metro Police.

Officers were dispatched about 11:20 p.m. Sunday to the 4000 block of Alderbrook Court, near Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive, police said. They found the couple in the front seat of a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

The woman, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, Treasure Munhenga, 25, was taken in critical condition to University Medical Center, where he later died, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s name.

Several neighbors who were having a backyard barbecue about 10:45 p.m. when they heard what they thought were nearby fireworks, police said.

A half hour later, as guests were getting ready to leave, they noticed a vehicle with the engine running in the middle of the street with the two people inside, police said. Someone went to check on the couple and realized they had been shot, police said.
