A woman was “deceitful” when she called 911 to report her baby had been taken with her car Tuesday morning, prompting a massive response from authorities, Metro Police allege.

The month-old baby boy was found with his father shortly after Shavona Miller summoned police about 11:25 a.m. to the 6500 block of Vegas Drive, just east of Rainbow Boulevard, police said.

Miller, 23, was jailed on counts of child neglect, unlawful use of an emergency phone number and false reporting of a crime, police said. She was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Clark County Detention Center, jail logs show.

Miller told authorities she was loading her car when an unknown person took off with the vehicle and the baby, police said.

Police from across the valley were alerted and started searching “every street corner, every apartment complex, every store, every nook and cranny” for the child, Lt. Chris Holmes said.

Within 15 minutes, the car, baby and father were located in the 6300 block of Lake Mead Boulevard, police said.
