Traffic on Strip

Traffic backs up near a repair project Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, on northbound Las Vegas Boulevard north of Tropicana Avenue.

A multiyear construction project along the Las Vegas Strip starts on Thursday and will bring some road closures.

The project includes repaving a six-mile portion of Las Vegas Boulevard from the 215 Beltway to Sahara Avenue, as well as water main replacements and upgrades to traffic signals and street light poles. The first phase involves what Clark County officials label as “relatively minor nighttime closures.”

From 12:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, lanes on both sides of Las Vegas Boulevard between Resorts World Road and Spring Mountain Road will be closed. This segment will also be closed 12:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 25-27.

This phase of the project is projected to be completed in early 2021. Officials say drivers should expect more overnight road closures and shifts in the area during the workweek. Construction on the seven-phase project is expected to take more than five years to complete, according to county officials.

Information about the project and related traffic impacts will be available at www.ResortCorridor.com. Residents may also go to the website to sign up to receive email updates.
