Le Reve” will benefit the Metro Foundation on December 2.

Bobby Mao’s at Galleria at Sunset, an intriguing Henderson restaurant serving Chinese and Mexican cuisine, just celebrated its first year of business, and it’s also serving up a heaping helping of live music. Credit goes to Vegas staple Kelly Clinton, the singer, comedian and overall entertainment dynamo you might know from her weekly gig at the Bootlegger’s Open Mic Cabaret or Wednesday nights at the Tuscany’s Piazza Lounge.

Clinton performed at the November 9 anniversary shindig and continues to produce entertainment there Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The lively scene is already drawing some Summerlin residents all the way out to the Galleria, she said.

“It’s different every night, mostly duos and trios, but we’ve had a couple four-piece groups,” Clinton said. “It’s different from the format at the Bootlegger or Tuscany, where we have different singers coming up, but it’s the same feeling we want to bring to Bobby Mao’s. It’s that comfortable connection between the entertainer and the audience and everybody’s just having a good time.”

The music makes the restaurant into a sort of unorthodox supper club, and its unique environment brings it all together; this isn’t your typical mall restaurant. Among the performers Clinton has brought to Bobby Mao’s so far are familiar local names like Mark O’Toole, Art Vargas, Naomi Mauro, Rita Lim, Jassen Allen and Lisa Gay, and out-of-towners are finding their way into the rotation as well, including Belgian-born jazz singer Pascale Elia. And you never know if Clinton or hubby Clint Holmes might pop in for a tune or two.
