Donny and Marie Osmond were honored by the Las Vegas Walk of Stars in an unveiling ceremony outside Flamingo Las Vegas on October 4 and no one deserves this particular kind of recognition more. The singing siblings have been performing in Las Vegas for almost the entirety of their respective careers and their joint residency at the Flamingo showroom has been one of the most popular shows on the Strip for more than 11 years and 1,700 performances. Donny & Marie continue to perform there through November 16 when they’ll take their final bow in this room.

Rod Stewart, along with Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, recently announced 2020 dates for his “The Hits” residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 16 more shows in March, September and October with tickets going on sale October 11. But earlier this month he tacked on an extra gig at Caesars when he provided a special wedding serenade for a British couple who almost didn’t make it to Las Vegas for their dream nuptials. Sharon Cook and Andrew Aitchison were stranded in Liverpool days before their Vegas wedding after the Thomas Cook travel company went bankrupt and their initial plans were canceled. Caesars Palace and Delta Air Lines intervened to get them to Vegas and plant them at the Venus Garden Chapel, where the ceremony included a surprise performance of “Have I Told You Lately” by Stewart himself.
“Blanc de Blanc” at Sahara Las Vegas has updated its schedule, pushing showtime later to 8 p.m and performing Thursday through Monday in the Blanc de Blanc Theater. The new time should suit this show better than its original 7 p.m. slot, considering it’s a bit naughty and feels a bit clubby with its splashy finale. Tickets for performances through January 5 are now on sale but we’re hoping it lasts longer than that.
Fall is here and that means it’s the season for nonprofit galas and other local charitable events. Paris Las Vegas action comedian Jeff Civillico will host the 10th annual Denim & Diamonds Gala to benefit the Grant A Gift Autism Foundation on October 18 at the Las Vegas Ballpark. Nathan Adelson Hospice will hold its 24th annual Serenades of Life: Doctors in Concert event on October 19 featuring the Lon Bronson Band at the Smith Center. Nevada Donor Network’s annual Inspire Gala is set for October 26 at Four Seasons Las Vegas featuring performances by Granger Smith and Plain White T’s and a keynote address from Joe Montana. And the Michael J. Fox Foundation is expanding to Las Vegas with its inaugural event on November 2, the Climb 2 Conquer gala at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health featuring a collection of local chefs and restaurants.
Ron DeCar’s Event Center in downtown Las Vegas will host a performance from paranormal illusionist David Shareef on November 1 at 7 p.m. Shareef holds a doctorate in psychology from the University of Arizona, worked as a public school teacher in Chicago and is a three-time National Black Belt League world karate champion. He has appeared on “Penn & Teller’s Fool Us” and worked as a creative consultant for Criss Angel, David Copperfield and David Blaine. Ticket info is available at rondecarseventcenter.com.
Westgate comedian George Wallace, Linq illusionist Mat Franco, Tropicana comic magician Murray Sawchuck, performers from the STRAT’s “Celestia,” musicians from Harrah’s “Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel” and artists from Nevada Ballet Theatre will entertain at this year’s Ethel M Chocolates Cactus Garden Lighting on November 5 at the factory store in Henderson. Mix 94.1 FM’s Mercedes Martinez will host and the event is free and open to the public.
