Roy Horn, half of the magician duo Siegfried and Roy that dominated the Las Vegas Strip for some two decades, has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a statement from his publicist.

Horn, who was left partially paralyzed from a tiger attack during a show in 2003, is responding well to treatment, the statement from Kirvin Doak Communications said.

“Most importantly, Siegfried and Roy send positive wishes to everyone impacted by the pandemic,” the statement said. “We will have no further comment on Roy’s recovery at this time and ask everyone to respect his right to privacy.”

Coronavirus causes the COVID-19 disease. Most people have mild or moderate symptoms, but some, especially older people and those with underlying medical conditions, can suffer more serious illness that can sometimes lead to death.

Horn and fellow German magician Siegfried Fischbacher made their first appearance in Las Vegas in 1967 and played at several Strip casinos. They eventually became headliners, entertaining more than 25 million people.

They performed at the Frontier from 1981 to 1988 and debuted at the new Mirage in 1990. They played the Mirage until October 2003, when a white tiger used in the show seriously injured Horn.
