CARSON CITY — Health officials in Nevada on Monday reported 742 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide and 6 additional deaths.

That brings the state’s total to 56,972 cases and at least 963 known deaths since the pandemic began.

The Southern Nevada Health District reports 811 deaths, or 84.2% of the state total, have been in the Las Vegas area.

For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms for up to three weeks.

Older adults and people with existing health problems can face severe illness and death. However, the vast majority of people recover.
