LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Trump-worshipping Christians turn away from God

I received a robocall inviting me to President Donald Trump’s recent rally at the Ahern Hotel. The caller said they were going to worship and give praise, and make sure that Trump would be reelected.

A news story Aug. 7 about the rally said a handful of pastors wove faith and political messages together in support of Trump’s reelection. So much for separation of church and state.

These preachers would be better to stick to proclaiming the gospel and praising Jesus Christ. That is their job. It appears that they have replaced God with Trump.

When confronted over the evil that Trump does, they say to “hate the sin, love the sinner.” But if a sinner does not turn from his sins and continues to do great harm to the people, then these evangelicals are enablers and share in his sin.

Psalm 118:8-9 says: “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.”
