Producer, choreographer and dancer Jennifer Romas has been in constant motion since the COVID pandemic closed her show “Sexxy” at Westgate Las Vegas, searching for new ways to keep her cast and crew at work and maintain some sense of normalcy. It’s been a struggle to say the least, but the “Sexxy” squad gets a big boost when they can return to some form of performance, which is happening again this week with a short series of special shows at Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club.

“We all want to perform and we all miss doing what we love to do, so the energy when we all come together is really awesome because everyone is just gung-ho,” Romas says on this week’s episode of the Sun on the Strip podcast. “We’re trying to get back to our normal lives.”

“Sexxy After Dark” takes over the off-Strip gentleman’s club December 3, 4 and 5, a very different version of the popular female revue that’s been headquartered at the Westgate Cabaret for the past five years. Romas collaborated with the recently renovated Hustler Club and guest singer Anne Martinez to put together a customized show for the venue that also includes dinner.

“People who know us know what kind of content we put out and it’s always sexy, sassy and classy, but we’re going to push the limits a little bit,” Romas says. “Obviously we’re doing some massive adapting to the space because it’s not set up anything like our showroom. We’ve got a couple different places set up throughout the venue where we’ll be positioned for a few numbers, and we’re following all the guidelines for safety and [the club] is being very cautious going forward.

“[This show is] a new concept for them as well as for us but we’re excited. It’s a very different venue but we feel like people want to get out whether it’s a date night or a bachelor party, and this allows for that nightlife atmosphere, along with food and a show, that energy you can’t get because clubs are not open right now. There are not a lot of social things like this with that nightclub vibe.”

Romas says although there’s no timetable yet for the return of “Sexxy” to Westgate, these supper-club style shows are important for a multitude of reasons, including her dancers getting back onstage and reconnecting with their audience and her own evolution as a producer and business operator.

“It puts me in a place where I have to push myself. I say yes to things sometimes and then [wonder] what did I get myself into, how am I going to make this happen? But I can’t be afraid. I have to try something new. And I have a great feeling about this because I think Vegas is kind of going back a little old-school with more lounge-type things, more dinner and shows. I think this may be the tip of the iceberg for what’s going to be happening in Vegas moving forward.”
