All operations at the Mirage will be closed midweek starting next month, according to a statement from MGM Resorts International.

Beginning Jan. 4, the Mirage — including its hotel, casino, restaurants and all other amenities — will be closed from noon Mondays until noon Thursdays.

MGM noted that weekday business levels have been notably “low due to COVID-19 and the restrictions on group gatherings…”

The company said it doesn’t expect the closure to last past February.

The resort had already closed its hotel midweek starting in late November.

At the time, the company said the closure was not expected to last into the new year but would “continue evaluating business levels.”

MGM reopened the Mirage in late August after a statewide shutdown in mid-March of all nonessential businesses.

Business at Strip resorts has been modest since the state-mandated closure but has been especially slow lately with international travel essentially nonexistent this holiday season.

Las Vegas hotel occupancy in Octoberwas down more than 40% from the same month in 2019, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
