A suspect in the beating and robbery of an elderly woman in a downtown Las Vegas elevator last month has been arrested in the Los Angeles area, according to Metro Police.

James Moore, 43, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department and was awaiting extradition on a warrant on counts of robbery of an elderly person and battery by strangulation of an elderly person, Las Vegas police said.

The attack, which was captured on video, occurred about 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the 300 block of Fremont Street, police said. Footage from the elevator camera shows a man put the woman in a headlock and beat her in the face.

The man ran out with her purse under his hooded sweatshirt, police said. On Jan. 28, police named Moore as a suspect, noting that he was believed to be homeless.
