Rescuers resumed the search today for a Las Vegas man who was reported missing when he didn't return from a hike.

The 33-year-old man went hiking Sunday afternoon at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area, authorities said. According to his wife, he had planned to hike the Rainbow Trail.

The couple's last contact was around 5:15 p.m. via text message.

She contacted police after he never came home.

Authorities dispatched a search and rescue helicopter but had to stop because of weather and other dangerous conditions.

The man's wife said he is diabetic and did not have much food with him. Searchers said the temperatures weather overnight would have been near freezing.
