For the second time in three seasons, the Golden Knights’ bench boss will coach the All-Star Game.

The NHL announced the All-Star Game coaches today, and by virtue of the Golden Knights holding the best record by points percentage in the Pacific Division at the season’s halfway point, Gerard Gallant was named the coach for the Jan. 25 game in St. Louis.

"It's an honor to represent our organization for sure," Gallant said. "I never had that chance as a player."

The current All-Star Game format pits the four divisions against one another in a mini tournament. Gallant and the Pacific will face the Central in a 20-minute 3-on-3 contest, with the winner taking on the Atlantic-Metropolitan winner in the finals.

Gallant will join goalie Marc-Andre Fleury representing Vegas, and the pair could be joined by forward Max Pacioretty, who is up for the fan vote in the Last Men In competition.

Gallant also coached the Pacific in the 2018 game, a contest that his team won. He had Fleury and former Golden Knight James Neal that year in Tampa Bay.

A win against Philadelphia on Thursday clinched Gallant's spot in the All-Star Game, which he jokingly took issue with.

"(The players) sort of joke because they know I want to go see my grandkids real bad, so they were trying to win in spite of me last night," Gallant said.
