Police say downtown Las Vegas bomb threat unfounded

A portion of Fremont Street was briefly shut down Monday night while officers investigated an unfounded bomb threat at a gift shop, according to Metro Police.

The incident began when an unidentified man was asked to leave the business at the Fremont Street Experience, Metro Lt. David Gordon said. As he was leaving, the man threatened an employee, Gordon said.

The man showed up about an hour later, briefly walked into the store and left, Gordon said. That’s when an employee found a note with a bomb threat, he said.

Police were summoned about 8:20 p.m., Gordon said. Authorities shut down Fremont Street between Main and Third streets while a bomb-sniffing dog screened the area, he said.

No device was found, Gordon said.

It wasn’t clear if the man was located, and no arrests were announced.
