A Metro Police officer in Laughlin was arrested today after detectives learned he “engaged in sex acts” with at least two teenage girls he is believed to have encountered during service calls at a school, authorities said.

Officer Christopher Peto, 47, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on five counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14; three counts of customer engaging in soliciting a child for prostitution; two counts of kidnapping a minor; and one count each of lewdness with a child between the ages of 14 and 15, and child abuse or neglect, jail logs show.

The alleged crimes occurred over the last two years, police said, noting they were tipped off anonymously in the past few days.

Citing a preliminary investigation, police allege Peto engaged in sex acts with at least two girls between the ages of 13 and 17 whom he is believed to have encountered at Laughlin Jr./Sr. High School.

Further details were not immediately available.

Peto did not immediately show up in an online search of online jail logs.

Peto was hired by Metro in July 1999 and has been suspended with pay pending official charges, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
