Station Casinos President Richard Haskins was killed today in a “watercraft accident” in Michigan while on vacation, the company announced this evening.

The company didn’t provide additional details about the incident. Haskins, who also served as president of Red Rock Resorts, is being mourned by the company.

“Words cannot express what Rich has meant to the company and to me in the 25 years he has been with Station Casinos,” said Frank Fertitta III, CEO and chairman of the resorts’ board of directors, in a statement. “He was a trusted advisor, a brilliant strategist, a steady hand in good times and in bad and most important — a friend to all.”

The board of directors will convene in the “coming days” to announce a succession plan, the company said.

“It is very hard to imagine Station Casinos being the Company it is today without Rich. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him,” added Fertitta, expressing thoughts and prayers for Haskins’ loved ones.
