Stuffed animals and flowers are shown at a makeshift memorial near the intersection of Rampart at Lake Mead boulevards Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Royce Jones, one year old, was killed in a traffic accident at the site Sunday, July 12, 2020.

The father of a 1-year-old killed Sunday night in a crash in which his mother was driving 121 mph near Rampart and Lake Mead boulevards before impact has also been arrested and booked a count of reckless driving leading to the death of a juvenile, Metro Police announced this afternoon.

Cameron Hubbard-Jones, 23,  and Lauren Loanna Prescia, 23, were heading down Rampart, passing each other at more than 100 mph, before the woman hit a car, lost control and smashed into a shopping center marquee, severing her car in two, police said.

Prescia was booked Sunday on DUI resulting in death, reckless driving and child abuse and neglect, police said. Records show she’s since posted bail, which was set at $50,000 on Monday.

In Prescia’s arrest report, Hubbard-Jones told detectives that he was chasing the woman, telling her on the phone to slow down because their child was in the car, but estimated his speeds to be 60 to 80 mph.

But new evidence prompted Metro to determine both were driving over 100 mph and passing each other, police said.

The child, Royce Jones, was only 1.
