Raiders first-round draft pick Henry Ruggs was hurt in an accident while helping a friend move, but according to Ruggs’ father, the injury is minor.

Ruggs suffered "a little open wound on his leg, a little incision," his father told AL.com, and the former Alabama receiver is "pretty much OK."

Rumors began swirling on Monday morning that Ruggs suffered some kind of puncture wound to his thigh, with some even speculating that it could be career-threatening.

Even if those early rumors turned out to be overblown, the Raiders still have to be concerned about a leg injury to a player they drafted No. 12 overall mostly because of his speed. If Ruggs’ 4.27 speed is even the slightest bit compromised, it would be bad news for Las Vegas’ revamped offense.

Ruggs’ father said that the young wideout is currently walking on crutches.

As a junior at Alabama last year, Ruggs caught 40 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdowns. He scored 24 TDs in his college career and averaged 17.5 yards per reception.

Along with third-round selections Bryan Edwards of South Carolina and Lynn Bowden of Kentucky, Ruggs is expected to help transform the Las Vegas offense in 2020.
