North Las Vegas Police are searching for a woman they say abducted her newborn son.

The whereabouts of Nyeisha Barrett, 32, and her 3-week-old boy were unknown and police this afternoon were asking the community for help finding them.

Police said Barrett took the baby from his grandmother’s house without permission about 10 p.m. Friday.

Barrett has a history of substance abuse, which police said contributed to the state taking the boy from her at birth.

She was allowed visitations with the child, and that’s what she was doing when she suddenly vanished in a moment of distraction near Azure Avenue and Lamb Boulevard, police said.

Barrett stands about 5 feet, 2 inches, and weighs about 120 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen dressed in all red. Police said she has “blessed” tattooed on her chest.

Anyone with information of the woman and the baby’s whereabouts were asked to call police at 702-633-9111.
