Four UNLV student-athletes have tested positive for COVID-19, halting voluntary workouts, the school announced today. UNLV said it will not allow more workouts until at least July 5.

The students who tested positive have been placed in isolation, the school said. UNLV said a “handful” of other athletes have been placed in quarantine “out of an abundance of caution.

UNLV said the positive results came as part of its regular screening for athletes taking part in voluntary workouts, which began June 8 for some sports, including football, and June 15 for others, including basketball.

The school said it will work with medical advisers and physicians to decide when it is safe for workouts to resume.
