The Southern Nevada Health District says it has received reports of three new presumptive positive cases of coronavirus in Clark County.

The Health District is now reporting eight cases in Clark County — seven presumptive positives and one confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Two cases have also been identified in Northern Nevada.

The investigations are in the preliminary phase, and the Health District will provide additional information as it becomes available, officials said.

The cases reported today follow an announcement Wednesday of another three people testing positive for the virus, including a woman from New York who attended a conference at a Strip resort. Health officials said they were investigating where the woman had been in Las Vegas and notifying people who were in close contact with her.

No additional details were released about the latest patients.

Dr. Fermin Leguen, the acting chief health officer for the district, said Wednesday that the "level of transmission of this disease in Clark County is considered low. If that changes, we will communicate that to you as well.”

The Health District said it planned to release updated information Friday morning.
