Police looking for suspect in central Las Vegas hit-and-run

Three pedestrians waiting for a bus were injured, one fatally, when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver early Friday in the central valley, according to Metro Police.

Detectives are still searching for the suspect, who left his 2004 Saturn Vue behind, police said. He was described as a man in his 20s.

The surviving victims sustained minor injuries, but a 36-year-old Las Vegas man died at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, police said.

The crash was reported about 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Desert Inn and La Canada Street, near Maryland Parkway.

The Saturn was driving westbound on Desert Inn when it veered onto wrong-way traffic, struck a curb and climbed onto a sidewalk, police said.

The vehicle smashed onto a brick wall, spun, and knocked over a pole before hitting the victims on the sidewalk, police said.

The motorist got out, walked up to the pedestrians, but fled on foot when he saw their injuries, police said. He didn’t identify himself.
