Drive-thru, walk-up virus testing coming to UNLV parking garage

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing at the Orleans will move to UNLV’s Tropicana Avenue parking garage next to the Thomas & Mack Center starting Wednesday, Clark County officials said.

Friday will be the Last day to get an appointment at the Orleans site.

Clark County and University Medical Center launched the Orleans testing site this month and have since partnered with Clinical Pathology Laboratories, the Nevada National Guard, UNLV and University Police Services toquadruple its capacity to 1,200 tests a day.

More than 10,000 people have been tested at the site.

“Our drive-thru operation at the Orleans has been an important part of our community’s efforts to reopen our economy,” Clark County Commission Chairwoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick said.

Testing is free, even for people without insurance. Those with coverage are asked to provide their insurance information for billing purposes but are not charged a co-pay.

Testing Is available to anyone, even those who don’t have symptoms of the virus. Children can be tested with parental consent.

The new location will also have a walk-up testing area.

Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Test results are usually available in two or three days. All results are reported to the Southern Nevada Health District.
