The Cosmopolitan today announced plans to reopen June 4 with restaurants, bars, stores and swimming, but also under strict health and safety guidelines.
The Strip resort is the latest to announce its reopening since Gov. Steve Sisolak on Tuesday said he was lifting a statewide shutdown of casinos to control the spread of the coronavirus.
The resort will open under “strict guidelines that meet or exceed the standards set by local, state and federal authorities,” according to a news release.
Those include enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols, social-distancing guidelines and noninvasive temperature screenings, officials said.
“As we all acclimate to this new normal, we know the travel experience our guests have grown accustomed to will be altered,” President and CEO William P. McBeath said.
The Cosmopolitan, however, is committed to providing exceptional service, and “we look forward to welcoming our guests back to the resort soon,” McBeath said.
The resort will open in phases, with more amenities added in the coming months, officials said. Under state guidelines, nightclubs remain closed.
The Cosmopolitan said it was also dropping paid self-parking and will continue to offer free valet parking for hotel guests.
Sisolak in mid-March ordered all Nevada casinos and other nonessential businesses closed to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Businesses are slowly being allowed to reopen in phases.
Other competing properties preparing to open on the Strip include Caesars Palace, the Flamingo, Venetian, Wynn Las Vegas, Encore, MGM Grand, Bellagio and New York-New York. Locals casino operators Boyd Gaming and Station Casinos are also opening multiple properties off the Strip.
