The Clark County Government Center and other county facilities will begin to reopen Monday as part of Nevada’s Phase 2 reopening plan. But things will look much different moving forward as county officials enforce social distancing guidelines and encourage the use of face coverings.

Here’s what to expect beginning next week, after most county facilities were closed to the public in mid-March in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus:

County services

Residents will find altered line queues to allow for more spacing and to avoid cross-traffic between customers. Some lines — like at the Regional Justice Center — will take longer to get through. There may also be fewer public workstations, and some seating will be taken out to encourage social distancing.

Anyone who enters these facilities will be asked to wear face coverings. If someone does not have a face covering, some facilities will offer one to them. County employees interacting with the public are also encouraged to wear face coverings and gloves.

Customer counters will have plexiglass barriers, and some counter spaces will not be available at all.

There will also be an increased emphasis on cleaning and sanitation.

Treasurer's Office

Taxpayers are still encouraged to make payments online. Anyone who comes to the office will be served at payment windows and will be asked to practice social distancing and wear face coverings.

Recorder’s Office

The main offices located at the Clark County Government Center will process documents for walk-in customers over the front counter or through mail or electronically.

There will be signs in the lobby and entrance advising customers to practice social distancing. There will also be stanchions to serve as separators for foot traffic entering and exiting the office. Customers will check in at the front desk with an employee who will use a queuing system to automatically place them in line. Waiting chairs will be spaced out throughout the lobby. Computer stations used for research purposes will also be modified for social distancing. Branch offices at Henderson City Hall and on the corner of Tenaya Way and Cheyenne Avenue will reopen on a later date.

Assessor's Office

The office will be opened at limited capacity. Customers are encouraged to call or visit www.clarkcountynv.gov/assessor to send documents online. The office will not be offering notary services or homesteads.

Business License

The department will start offering in-office assistance by appointment, but customers are encouraged to use online services. The office is expanding its capabilities to contact customers virtually. Customers can also drop off applications that aren't renewal payments at the security desk on the first floor of the Government Center.

For information on liquor and gaming, call 702-455-4125. For general and regulated business, call 702-455-0174. For reflexology, call 702-455-6562. To renew payments, call 702-455-3557. These lines are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a call-in and check-in procedure to streamline the process and eliminate queueing.

Public Works

Public Works will still operate primarily online. Services are available at the Citizen Access Portal.

Staff are accepting plan submittal in-person by appointment only Monday through Friday. Call 702-455-4600.

Building & Fire Prevention

This department will open at limited capacity for face-to-face service by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, visit here. All new permit applications, drawing revisions and reports must be submitted electronically.

The Department of Environment and Sustainability

These services will only be offered by phone, email or online. Visit here for more information.

Court services

The Las Vegas Justice Court Traffic Division

Customer service windows will remain closed until the last phase of the reopening plan. For anyone who needs to resolve a traffic citation, call 702-671-3444 or email [email protected] or visit here.

Those who have pending judicial matters or believe their cases are criminal should contact their attorney or the Criminal Customer Service Division at 702-671-3201. They can also visit lasvegasjusticecourt.us to confirm their court case status.

Regional Justice Center

A court order has been issued for those visiting the RJC and Family Court to wear face coverings and to observe social distancing. Lobby hours for the RJC District Attorney will be 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The Victim Witness Center lobby hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4:30 p.m. The DA’s Bad Check United at the lower level of the RJC is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The reception window hours of the Juvenile Division in the Family Court campus will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The DA Family Support Call Center can be reached at 702-671-9200 and is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. The lobby will reopen to customers, including for taking child support payments, on Monday. The hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments are encouraged and can be made through the call center. Social distancing may cause delays in getting served. Officials anticipate a line that may continue outside the building.

Only parties to child support cases and those who may have questions or are seeking child support services will be allowed to enter the building. Attorneys and Powers of Attorney may enter as well. Customers are encouraged not to bring their children unless they plan to conduct genetic testing.

DAFS Courts will hold virtual hearings until the end of July. Litigants do not need to physically attend court.

Public Defender’s Office

The office remains closed to the public and for in-person visits. Clients can reach the office at 702-455-4685 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Clark County officials encourage litigants to maintain communication with their attorneys to prevent warrants from being issued.

Recreation centers

Las Vegas-area community and recreation centers will be opened at a limited capacity starting Monday for open recreation or to register for future programs. Senior centers will remain closed.

Splash pads will be open but pools won’t open until later in June at a reduced capacity. Playgrounds will remain closed. Dog parks and equestrian centers are already open.

The Clark County Wetlands Park Nature Center, the Clark County Museum and the Clark County Shooting Complex will remain closed until further notice.
